6.4 LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) Display Functions

6.4.1 LCD/LED Display Method

The following shows the basic display method of LCD.

LCD notiﬁes an operator of status, error codes and accompanying information by messages.

LCD has two-line display area.

6.4.2 Normal Status

This is normal operation status such as on-line or processing. Accompanying information such

as copy mode printing is shown in the lower line.

6.4.3 Warning Status

This is warning status in which operation can continue. This warns the user that if he continues

the operation, an error might occur.

6.4.4 Error Status

Operation cannot continue. An operator has to take an appropriate measure and recover the

printer from the error. According to an error type, a 3-digit number is assigned as an error code.

Fatal error means an irrecoverable error that requires a service call.

(Except for service call level errors, LCD does not show three-digit error codes.)

6.4.5 LCD/LED Display Table

The following table shows a list of status messages and alarm messages (LCD and LED displays).

The priorities in the message are listed from high priority to low priority. The smaller the num-

ber is, the higher the priority is. When more than two messages are active, a message with the

highest priority is displayed. Two (or more) messages are alternately displayed.
